Congress didn’t act in time to stop some student loan interest rates from doubling this week, but can they intervene before the new school years starts, and students take out a new batch of loans? Washington Post

The nine California CORE districts are still waiting for a response on their No Child Left Behind waiver proposal. Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy gave an interview to NPR on what it’s like to live a day in his shoes, running one of the biggest school districts in the country. “One of the things that absolutely keeps me up at night is how quickly I can make good on the promise that we made to the hundreds of thousands of youth in Los Angeles, that their rights would be honored, and that they would all graduate, college and workforce ready.” NPR
